About Tom

Tom has been practising as a chiropractor since 2017 and has worked with patients across Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire. He now practises at Isis Chiropractic Centres in Aylesbury.

Tom believes that good care starts with listening. His approach is centred around understanding each person, what they are experiencing and, importantly, what they want to get back to doing. Rather than simply focusing on where it hurts, he takes the time to look at the bigger picture and help patients understand what may be contributing to their symptoms.

Whether someone is dealing with a recent injury, an ongoing problem that has been holding them back, or simply wants to feel more confident in how they move, Tom aims to provide clear, practical advice and an individual treatment plan based on the findings of the assessment and the patient’s goals.

Alongside clinical practice, Tom is a clinic supervisor at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic, where he supports and mentors student chiropractors as they develop their clinical skills and prepare for professional practice.

Clinical interests

Tom has a particular interest in the assessment and management of:

  • Persistent and chronic musculoskeletal pain
  • Back and neck pain
  • Movement-related problems
  • Sports and activity-related injuries
  • Rehabilitation and helping people return to activity

Tom has a particular interest in pain and the many factors that can influence how we experience it. This has led him to undertake further postgraduate study, and he is currently completing a Diploma in Pain Science.

His approach may combine chiropractic treatment with advice and education, appropriate manual therapy, exercise and rehabilitation, depending on the findings of the assessment and the needs of the individual patient. His aim is to help patients understand their problem, improve movement and function, build confidence and get back to the activities that matter to them.

Clinical practice and teaching

Tom’s clinical experience has included working with patients across Northamptonshire, Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire with a broad range of musculoskeletal problems. He now practises at our Aylesbury clinic, where his particular interests include pain, movement, rehabilitation and helping people remain active.

Alongside treating patients, Tom works as a clinic supervisor at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic. In this role, he supports and mentors student chiropractors as they develop their clinical reasoning, practical skills and experience in patient care before entering professional practice.

Tom’s approach to care

Tom believes that treatment should be tailored to the individual rather than based simply on the name given to a condition. He considers a patient’s symptoms, examination findings, medical history, lifestyle and what they would like to achieve.

Where appropriate, care may include manual treatment alongside advice, exercise and rehabilitation. Other treatment approaches available within Isis Chiropractic Centres may also be considered when appropriate to the individual patient’s needs.

A key part of Tom’s approach is helping patients understand their symptoms and giving them practical strategies to help them move with greater confidence and stay active.

Outside the clinic

Outside clinical practice, Tom enjoys running, playing football and sport in general. Staying active is an important part of his own life, which gives him an appreciation of how frustrating it can be when pain or injury gets in the way.

It also contributes to his enthusiasm for helping patients get back to the sports, hobbies and everyday activities they enjoy.
