Chiropractic Treatment and Back Care

Almost everyone gets back pain at some time, but staying active, with the help of chiropractic treatment, may well be the best solution.

Common Causes of Back Pain Include:

Back PainPoor posture may lead to back pain, particularly if you :

  • Spend hours a day sitting at a desk or a computer
  • Slouch in front of the TV
  • Sleep in a bed that is too hard or too soft
  • Find yourself hunching your back or shoulders in stressful situations.

Daily activities such as bending, lifting and twisting.

Traumas such as:

  • Car accidents
  • Falls
  • Sporting injuries
  • Lifting heavy weights

As you go through life, a slight loss of proper movement of the bones/joints can interfere with the healthy working of your spine and the nerves that pass through it. This can lead to pain!

Pain killers simply mask the pain!

Chiropractic treats the cause of the pain, unlike pain killing drugs, which just mask the symptoms!

We will carry out a thorough examination (including x-rays if necessary), take a full medical history, check your posture and discuss your lifestyle to try and establish the cause of your back pain.

We will make a diagnosis and start your treatment, using gentle, specific, chiropractic manipulation techniques, to free any stiff joints and remove spinal nerve irritation. This effective, drug-free treatment is generally painless, however, you may feel some short-term discomfort if your back is very sore.

Research has shown that in cases of back pain, prolonged bed rest weakens the bones and muscles and reduces the chances of a full recover. Please try to remain mobile, even if you can only manage very gentle exercise. We normally advise patients to cool the area which is sore, to reduce the level of inflammation.

Once you are more comfortable we will start exercises, including stretching and core stability exercises.
